The Giver

Imagine a perfect society, without war, famine, disease or death. A perfect community where everything is peaceful. Sounds good, right? WRONG! Jeff Bridges, master actor proves why in this new upcoming dystopian epic The Giver
Based on the worldwide best-selling novel by author Lois Lowry, the Giver tells the story of an elderly wise man (Bridges) that understands the good and the bad of the real society we live in and he finds a soul-searching young man who’s looking for the same answer and takes him under his wing as his protégé

However, as with every other dystopian epic; there are others who will go to any lengths, even acts considered highly immoral to stop the Giver, such as the villainous Chief Elder played by none other than Meryl Streep
Featuring Katie Holmes, Alexander Skarsgard, and Taylor Swift, the Giver is guaranteed to capture audiences’ imagination and beliefs as they discover the true meaning of the proverb ‘the grass is always greener’. The Giver opens worldwide August 14, 2014.

Angelina Jolie is… MALEFICENT?!

Believe it or not movie fans, you heard me right: Angelina Jolie, the sultry star-studded actress and wife of Hollywood heartthrob hunk Brad Pitt, turns to a darker shade in this newly magical dark humored version of Sleeping Beauty
In this new adaptation in the borrowed traditions of Megamind and Wreck It Ralph, Jolie revitalizes the infamous dark fairy as a once good girl gone bad to the bone. whatever reasons are as yet to be revealed. so… as you may know from the original story. Maleficent enters castle, curses Aurora, who is played by none other than Elle Fanning, now more grown up and with a very realistic English accent
Yep, she looks just like her big sis Dakota Fanning! Anyway, Maleficent is shunned by the townspeople due to… well, let's just say she's… different. Anyway, Aurora starts to understand Maleficent's loneliness and tries to bond with her. can you say big, BIG mistake?! Just take a wild guess what happens next…
…Yup. and you know how the story ends and Maleficent may not have her own happy ending… or WILL she?! the answers will be revealed next summer. also appearing as King Stefan, Aurora's father is none other than Sharlto Coperly from Elysium
Also keep your eyes wide open, its also been announced that Jolie's daughter Viveene may have a role in the flick. So keep your calendars marked, as Maleficent slithers into your local theaters May 30, 2014. And one more thing… take a look at Jolie's eye color

Now THAT's what I call good visual effects! I think this'll be one flick you've just GOT to see

2 Guns

Ever wonder what it would be like if multiple Academy Award winning superstar Denzel Washington teamed with Mark Wahlberg in an action-packed buddy film a' la Lethal Weapon together?
Here's the result in this summer's newest action comedy aptly named 2 Guns, which ironically, happens to be the title of a popular graphic novel series. Anyway, here's the plot: It tells the double careers of undercover Naval agent Bobby Stig (Denzel, same charm, same charisma, new sense of humor) and DEA agent Marcus Stigman (Wahlberg) have been performing some high-profile jobs for a ruthless Mob organization. However, all heck breaks loose when Bobby and Marcus' covers are blown
It is apparent, that someone has set our two heroes up. Now with their identities- AND their lives at risk, Bobby and Marcus begin a jam-packed, rough-riding, and laugh-filled blitzkreig in order to find who betrayed them and get even with the Mob with their own taste of medicine.
Featuring Paula Patton from Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol as Denzel's love interest, Bill Paxton as a psychotic gangster, veteran actor Edward James Olmos of Battlestar Galactica and Blade Runner fame, and Fred Ward from Naked Gun 3 The Final Insult. 2 Guns blasts into theaters nationwide August 2nd. Trust me, it's an invitation you simply CAN't refuse

RIPD

In the tradition of Men in Black and Ghostbusters, a new supernatural action-comedy is about to be added to that tradition. You may ask, what would the film title be? Well, here's the answer: RIPD or Rest in Peace Department, for short.
Based on a bestselling comic series from Dark Horse Publishing, this new fantasy laugh-fest tells the tale of everyday police officer Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds) whom is killed in an ordinary police bust, only to be instantly transported to RIPD department, which would be, natch, up in the skies.
Now recruited by dry-humuored RIPD boss Proctor (the ever-sexy Mary Louise-Parker), Walker is tasked with one-executing ghoulish thugs that terrorize the living and most importantly, find and kill the guy who shot him. Fortunately, he's not the ONLY RIPD officer, as who better to have the top billing in this film but Jeff Bridges! Not to mention, he reprises his Rooster Cogburn version again, minus the eyepatch
Of course, since being a typical sci-fi film, it just wouldnt be complete without a little apocalyptic situation, as in when the entire legion of monsters start taking over the human world, it's up to Nick and Roy (Bridges) to start some literal EPIC ass-kicking moves... and not to mention mopping up the mess afterwards with using the goons' body parts as a mop. (Just kidding. It's PG-13) Also appearing is Kevin Bacon as possibly the man who's responsible for Nick's situation, Marisa Miller (Yep, the sexy blonde model) as get this, Roy's avatar!? Don't believe me? Take a gander:
Believe it or not, having Marisa Miller perform an 'undercover' version of Bridges is guaranteed for some rather loud laughs. RIPD bursts into your local theatre next Friday, July 19th. If you see it, be warned: You just might laugh yourself silly!

And, as Starfleet's newest admiral, it's none other than Peter Weller, who you may recognize as the popular robot superhero named (what else) RoboCop

The Great Gatsby

For as long as the world can remember, F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic story The Great Gatsby has won over millions of readers and has been made into two successful films. But now, it's back and more stronger than ever, thanks to master storyteller Baz Luhrmann
Set in New York City in 1922, the story starts with a traveler named Nick Carraway (played by Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire) who is en route to visit old family pals, hot-headed, arrogant Tom Buchanan (played, respectively by Joel Edgerton) and his sultry, flirtatious wife Daisy (Carey Mulligan) who seems to have once been romantically intimate with Gatsby himself

And who better to play Gatsby than Hollywood megastar Leo DiCaprio, who had indeed worked with Luhrmann in Romeo + Juliet.
In the plot, Daisy remains completely out of touch with remembering or seeing any of Gatsby, until when out of nowhere, the two star-gazed lovers finally come face to face
Unfortunately, bad boy Tom discovers Daisy's relationship with Gatsby, and our hero Nick isn't the only one with problems as he finds himself being haggled by a shrewd, manipulative housewife (played electrifyingly by Isla Fisher)

In such a story of love, compromise, deception, betrayal, sex, greed and that the past has a very beautiful but nevertheless unspeakable way of repeating itself. As Gatsby quoted from this film "Change the past?" Well? Does he think anyone can rewrite history? Can he ever rekindle his relationship with Daisy? And more importantly: Why does Nick think Gatsby maybe might have something *else* he'd like to keep secret. All these questions, and never-before-seen facts will soon be unveiled May 10, this Friday at your local theatre. If you're looking for a good flick on Mother's Day, then this is an invitation you simply cant refuse

The Hangover Part III

They're BAACK!! Your favorite trio of bad boys are once again trashin' Las Vegas in the explosively mind-numbing conclusion of the Hangover trilogy
When last we met Stu, Phil and Alan, they have returned from Bangkok in Part II. Now in the finale, after Alan's father Sid (Jeffrey Tambor) tragically passes away, the three decide to go back to where it all started... Las Vegas

While in Vegas, the group runs into some familiar faces; from the sexy prostitute Jade from the first film, again played by Heather Graham, and their equally sociopathic nemesis Chow played by the fittingly hysterical Ken Jeong

Featuring Melissa McCarthy as a portly partygoer who becomes their newest tagalong companion, and John Goodman as a brutal assassin who sees our band of ne'er do-wells as his next target
The Hangover Part III explodes onto your theatre screen Memorial Day! And let it be known in this film...
